Thank you for your registration through The Gun Range for one of our upcoming meetings of TWAW Shooting Chapters. We look forward to meeting you and having you consider membership. Once you have become a member, you will not need to ‘register’ through The Gun Range web-site, you will get information via e-mail and/or Facebook from our chapter. Here are a few tidbits of information that may be of help prior to your first meeting: We welcome visitors to their first meeting without having to join TWAW. We encourage you to attend the meeting and then to observe the shooting. Only members can participate in the shooting. This will allow for the greatest level of safety, to reduce liability, to guarantee our members the shooting time they expect. Be sure to bring eye/ear protection so you can observe on the range for your first meeting. The first meeting is free and then, if you choose to become a member, there is a $50 yearly membership fee (payable on-line through www.twawshootingchapters.org). We have one chapter, but three meeting times. Our meetings start at 6:00 on the 2nd Tuesday and the 4th Thursday evenings. Our meetings start at 1:30 on the 4th Sunday. Shooting follows the meetings. We do our best to keep meeting days the same; however, due to special events and holidays, dates may be adjusted. Be sure to check the web-site for The Gun Range to verify the calendar. We have many eyes/ears on the range to keep the range safe. We do use a five lane range near the classroom so we are not shooting with the public. Our members pay the $17 range fees to shoot. Ammunition is not allowed in the classroom; we have a separate storage area for ammo and/or range bags during our meetings. Our chapter meetings are not a replacement for trainings. They are an enhancement to training. We encourage all new shooters to take the 4 hour Basic Pistol/Revolver Marksmanship class offered at The Gun Range. This entry level class offers the foundational skills and knowledge necessary for safe and effective shooting. However, if you are a rifle or shotgun user, those guns are also welcome and encouraged. You will need to show proficiency in handling with all guns. If you have specific questions, at any time, please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org! We all look forward to your attendance!
Sacramento Chapter Leader
Debbie MacDonald - Pistol Expert
With a background in education, teaching at The Gun Range comes naturally for me. The content of the course work has changed; the principles of instruction remain steady. Personal safety is of great concern and interest for me. To combine these interests and skills, I pursued my own personal training in the safe and effective handling of handguns. As a result, I started two chapters of “The Well Armed Woman” and pursued NRA certifications which allow be in be an instructor. My focus for instruction is centered on Basic Pistol/Revolver Marksmanship, Self Defense in the Home, Concealed Carry (Sacramento County), and specific classes for women only as they learn about handguns and self protection. A student in my class can expect to leave with a knowledge of handguns (both semi-automatic and revolvers), universal safety rules in handling a firearm, the fundamentals of shooting (including proper stance, grip, site alignment, trigger press, follow-through). The concealed carry class is more in depth, with information presented that is specific to carrying outside the home. Additionally, individuals desiring more 1:1 work can take advantage of coaching sessions after having taken a class. I look forward to working with you.
